While coding, writing and creating art and music for the game, I love to listen to music, podcasts or sometimes even audiobooks. Usually, the content is varied and keeps me engaged while not throwing me off form the focus. I also do currently all the sound FX and music, which may sound like a lot, but I have to be honest, this is probably the most relaxing thing for me as it almost feels disconnected from the rest of art creation.
Anyways, while searching on some hauntology music, I stumbled upon a fantastic podcast on Mixcloud. Rarely there is something that would perfectly fit into the world I'm creating, but this one got me hooked from the first listen. It's like a radio form the game. Highly recommend this!
Hello, my name is Peter and I'm the one orchestra man behind the Distant Feelings game. Today, I decided to journal my development, mostly for myself to have some points of reference in the future. I already know this will be quite a journey and a lot of ups and downs, but damn, I do not want to stop.
So, why did I decide to write the journal? I'm struggling a lot lately. I have a day job, the game is developed during my spare time, there are no 0% days which is very, very good, but I'm at the point right now where the progress is a bit more time consuming - asset creation and level design. The more the game becomes real the bigger the struggle. I just can't stop thinking about it, cannot focus on my work, it's almost like I'm just waiting for my day to finish, only to finally sit and do the thing I'm obsessed with. I know it's a from my past projects it's a good sign, I also know it can lead to burnout. But F that, for the first time in my life, I feel I found something, I really love doing.
I'm super grateful I'm able to do it. I'm sure this will pay off, I just need a little bit of patience.
Starting today I also decided to whenever I have an idea in my head, I'll just write it down, hopefully, take it off my shoulders of a but, clear my mind. Hopefully, this will help me to be focused more on my daily activities.
The best scenario would be to work on the game full time, but I don't have a budget for it atm. Hopefully, this will change soon. Fingers crossed.
PS: Meditation. I did it daily in the past, currently, a bit neglected on my side - that needs to change. Now
